City Scenes and Travels
Cityscapes inherently have more elements for an artist to consider. The shapes of buildings, bridges, shadows and the light falling just so, these create interesting subjects for me.
The joy I find in painting a scene from a recent trip (whether it be around Canada, USA, Italy, France or any place) is that it lets me explore all the details I remember with fondness and to live again in that special moment.
Country Life
The wide open spaces of agricultural landscapes, a farmer’s field or a long forgotten barn are subjects that fill this gallery.
Spending time around rural communities makes it far easier to get back to basics and to get in touch with what really matters most.
Close-ups and Living things
Whether it’s a man-made object or something from nature, sunlight on plants, curves and angles in rocks or a snow covered bench, I get drawn in to explore its intricacies.
Painting these close studies offers me a better understanding of the world around us. Nature is truly magical.
Landscapes and Elements
This gallery covers many journeys I’ve taken across Canada and more distant places. Painting a watercolour landscape is very freeing because nature isn’t as structured and there’s far more room for play.
Any landscape is a reminder of what we have been given to protect and enjoy just as it is. And what joy it is to spend time exploring the wilderness, experiencing panoramic views and peaceful vistas. There is always an inspiring element to capture in every scene, a vast sky, a forest’s strength, rushing water or the stillness that snow provides on any view.
